Building the Festival Walk

The Lake Oconee Boomers Team

festival walk digital1Imagine a pedestrian friendly garden space bordering Festival Hall. Leafy willow oaks frame the shady spot, stretching down Greene Street across from the historic courthouse. Soothing sounds from a whitewater fountain and bright colors of Southern flowers invite visitors to pause on semi-circular timber benches that echo the pine forests of Greene County.

A Bell Tower, housing the treasured bell from the old Greensboro High School, is the focal point of the walk. Symbolizing the memories of youth, it is surrounded by bricks and medallions engraved with the names of local citizens dedicated to the renewal of the Hall.

Like Festival Hall, Festival Walk is a special mix of the old and the new. The walk is a place for conversation, contemplation, relaxation or mingling with friends before an event.

Festival Walk is “the next step along.”

The design of Festival Walk features space for engraved bricks near each of the semi-circular timber benches and surrounding the treasured Greensboro High School Bell Tower. Each brick, imprinted with the names of local citizens, will symbolize the spirit of our community.
