Mark Visitacion, M.D., a specialist in Infectious Diseases, joined St. Mary’s Medical Group on Jan. 1, 2014.
Dr. Visitacion will be providing consultations at area hospitals and is establishing an Athens office at 700 Sunset Drive, Suite 302. He is now accepting appointments for office visits with both new and existing patients, with openings available in early January.
Dr. Visitacion will be an integral part of St. Mary’s Medical Group and ongoing efforts to enhance patient safety through the control and prevention of hospital-acquired infections. As an Infectious Disease specialist, Dr. Visitacion will help diagnose and treat a wide array of infections.
“We live in a time when antibiotic resistance is changing the way we practice medicine,” Dr. Visitacion said. “As organisms such as MRSA, VRE,C. difficile and MDR gram negatives adapt to our best treatments, we must find new ways to protect and treat patients. Dr. Visitacion completed his Infectious Disease fellowship at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine. He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
