The Lake Club Tennis Center at Reynolds Plantation is pleased to announce James Derrick as the newest Peter Burwash International (PBI) Tennis Professional. Originally from Sacramento, Ca., Derrick attended the University of the Pacific where he was president of the school’s rugby team, as well as a member of the executive board for the Pacific Club Sports program. Coming from a very sports oriented family, Derrick is an avid tennis player and has participated in high level competition in the California Central Valley.
Through a friend at Pacific, Derrick was introduced to PBI and all of the opportunities it has to offer. After interviewing with PBI, he worked as a tennis coach in Maine at one of the premier sports camps in the country, before coaching girls’ high school tennis. His current assignment brings him to The Lake Club at Reynolds Plantation where he will provide instructional, competitive and social programs for the active club membership as well as guests of The Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation.
“James brings a high level of energy and enthusiasm to the courts,” says Dave Neuhart, director of tennis at Reynolds Plantation. “Having been raised in a culturally diverse background, he should connect with and relate to students from all corners of the world. He has a wonderful attitude and is excited about the opportunity to forge new relationships with all the great people that make up our tennis community.”
