Some Other Wonderful Lake-Related Organizations

The Lake Oconee Boomers Team

Thanks to all of the positive comments we have received so far about starting a boat club in the area!

We do wanted to acknowledge some other wonderful organizations out there as well. One is the Georgia Lakes Association.

The Lake Oconee Water Watch (LOWW) is also another wonderful organization. LOWW is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that works to protect Lake Oconee for the benefit of people who enjoy its recreational opportunities and for those who visit or live in the lake area.  Clean water for swimming, fishing, and boating can be maintained when threats to water quality are detected and corrected early.

Lake Oconee Water Watch has monitored the water of Lake Oconee since the early 1990’s.  Chemical monitoring is performed monthly at numerous sites throughout the lake.  Biological monitoring is done during the summer months when beaches are open and when people are swimming and skiing.
